Brief Biography
Kenta Kawashima is a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Henry S. White’s group at the University of Utah. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry in August 2025 at the University of Texas at Austin under Prof. C. Buddie Mullins. His research focuses on three areas: (i) fundamental understanding of complex electrocatalytic phenomena, (ii) development of novel materials for solar-driven photoelectrochemical water splitting, and (iii) advancement of earth-abundant electrocatalysts for renewable-energy-driven electrochemical water splitting. These efforts aim to enable cost-effective green chemical feedstock production. His broader interests span electrochemistry and materials science, with emphasis on elucidating the structural and functional properties of (photo)electrocatalysts and guiding the rational design of next-generation materials for sustainable energy systems. He has also expanded my research to advanced battery materials and molten salt synthesis.
